Novosibirsk is an industrial city. It was built around the Trans-Siberian railroad 130 years ago, and since then has grown a lot.
There is a university town Akademgorodok next to Novosibirsk, situated on the shore of the beautiful Ob river. We usually catch a local train to enjoy the warm sand of the Ob river-sea (it is a river, which looks like a sea!) and to check out the peaceful student town, too.
