TRIP OVERVIEW
We begin in Khiva, one of the most atmospheric cities along the Silk Road. The journey starts slowly with an evening meetup, time to settle in, and a full day to explore the old city, walk its quiet streets, and feel the rhythm of this place.

From Khiva, we take our first train to Bukhara. It’s a long afternoon ride ideal for reading or watching the dunes landscape outside the window. In Bukhara, we pause again. There’s a full day to explore the city, balance work and wandering, and absorb the layers of history without rushing.

In the evening, we continue to Samarkand. A full day here allows space for both focused work and discovery monumental architecture, open squares, and moments of stillness between movement.

Another evening train takes us to Tashkent, where the journey briefly shifts pace. It’s a capital of Uzbekistan, a contrast to the Silk Road towns, and a place to reset before the longest stretch ahead. From Tashkent, we board a night train to Almaty and it is the longest ride of the journey, also we will experience the border crossing control in the train.

We arrive in Almaty in the morning. The final day is unstructured — city exploration, nature or a hike in the mountains nearby. Almaty is hip and modern city that is worth to explore, bacause it has a lot to offer.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE ROUTE

Underrated destination

Central Asia is a region full of contrasts and character and still off the radar for many travelers. Languages shift from town to town. Plates are piled with flatbread, plov, and herbs. From quiet mountain villages to buzzing crossroads, the region holds layers of stories shaped by empires, nomads, and everyday life.

It’s rarely explored by train, but that’s exactly how we’ll travel. Some days we’ll ride sleek high-speed trains at 200 km/h. Others, we’ll slow down in old Soviet carriages that feel suspended in time. There will be tea, local snacks, conversations, and long windowside silences as the land changes outside.
